Arash Ayrom Well, Chinese immigrants did face a lot of racism at the time. They couldn't vote, own land, and they were the first to be banned entirely from the US simply based on their race. The consequences of their maltreatment is a driver for a lot of the action in the show. That said, I wouldn't say it's especially "woke".
