It's true that I would feel less resentment if I thought taxes were being spent wisely.  Unfortunately, I would say that most taxes are spent on social harms / rentseeking. And even when taxes are spent on social goods, I think that people should have the right to spend on what _they_ think is a social good, not what whomever currently controls the whips of state thinks is a social good.
