As Youtube moves further into the "enshittification" stage of its life cycle, it has started to crack down on adblockers. I've received a warning that if I watch three more videos with adblockers, then I will be locked out.
Although I think Youtube does a lot of good, their political censorship is repulsive, and I'm not giving them any money to further that censorship.
They will also likely crackdown on Freetube either legally or technically, but for the time being, this still works:
1. Download and install Freetube.
2. Install the Libredirect extension.
The Libredirect extension allows you to redirect links to privacy protecting frontends to proprietary ecosystems. If you redirect Youtube links to Freetube, clicking on links will open them in Freetube, instead of Youtube.
