Excellent essay. Most of it rings true to me. I would point out that a woman in our evolutionary environment may well have wanted an aggressive brute for a mate, in order to protect her and her offspring. But a _selectively_ aggressive brute, who is only brutish to attackers, not to her and her offspring. However, since nature is typically not so finegrained, many women end up with brutes who are brutish to them as well.
