Don Spanton The existence of edge cases doesn't mean that most common cases aren't clearcut. Newtonian physics is an incomplete description of the world, and breaks down at the quantum level. But it reliably predicts the world quite well at human scale. Humans have imperfect sense organs, constrained intellects, and limited time. And, as you note, the world is complex. So, we should expect that even principled people of good will sometimes disagree. Exploring why those disagreements exist can sometimes reveal truths about the world that neither party knew before. But that doesn't mean that everything is an edge case. Most things aren't. And IMO, there's value in pointing out when someone is behaving in a hypocritical, unprincipled fashion.
