# Gregory Sizemore I don't see SF / Oakland or other progressive...

*January 11, 2024 — Comment Archer T. Ships replied to his own comment.*

Gregory Sizemore I don't see SF / Oakland or other progressive dominated cities creating environments that deter criminals any time soon. So, I expect that people living in those areas will have to increasingly rely on their own devices (gated communities, private security, armored / armed vehicles, etc) to provide security. But, who knows? I may be too pessimistic. I would not have predicted Milei's win in Argentina. Maybe people are more willing to change than I expect. But my bet is that people will have to suffer many more decades of urban decay / crime before they will be willing to make significant changes (repeal zoning regs, repeal rent control, prosecute petty criminals, repeal gun control, pass stand your ground laws, end the drug war, etc).
