# Brad Templeton We've been around this pretty extensively in the past....

*January 26, 2024 — Comment Archer T. Ships replied to Brad Templeton's comment.*

Brad Templeton We've been around this pretty extensively in the past. You seem obdurately fixated on defining it as an "insurrection" rather than a "mostly peaceful protest". I don't see that further discussion is going to change your mind. I've also realized that it's to the advantage of my broader political goals that progressives are hysterical hypocrites on this issue. Several Democratically controlled states are trying to boot Trump from the ballot due to this alleged "insurrection". If successful, doing so will delegitimatize the election in the eyes of half the country, and consequently the legitimacy of the Federal government. This, in turn, will fuel greater support for secessesion, which I believe will be salutatory for US citizens in the long run.
