I'm fine with the film eliminating the Harkonnen's homosexuality as a signifier of their perversion, as there was plenty else to get the point across. I'm more bothered by how they portrayed Chani as butthurt by Paul's decision to marry Irulan. It's been decades, but my recollection from the books is that book Chani understood the realpolitik necessity of marrying Irulan, and didn't care because she knew she was Paul's true love.
