Libertarians should not lose hope. The universe is unfathomably vast, and in the long run, we\'ll almost certainly be able to find freedom at the frontiers even if we never figure out how to maintain freedom long term in civilization.\
\
That said, I\'m also optimistic that we\'ll also be able to figure out how to maintain liberty in our culture over the long term. Here\'s some strategies I support:\
\
1. Concentrate libertarians in defendable territories (Free State Project, Próspera, Dubai International Financial Center). Large democratic socialist countries don\'t seem especially motivated to attack small countries (Switzerland, Monaco, Lichtenstein, Singapore, Anguilla, etc) directly. If populous enough, small libertarian countries can put up enough of a fight to make conquering them not worth the cost.\
\
2. Promote/develop technology that allows colonization of the frontiers: seasteads, spacesteads, nuclear power, rocketry, vertical farming, robotics, etc. The solar system is vast, and the size of the galaxy is beyond comprehension. Once space travel and space colony technology is mature, those who want liberty will be able to simply move to the frontier.\
\
3. Promote virtual reality, human emulation, uploading, AI, etc. The richer artificial worlds become, and the more time humans spend in them, the less external governments will matter. An encrypted MMO running on a decentralized network of nodes will be costly to shutdown or detect.\
\
4. Promote censorship resistant, privacy tech: Signal, Simplex, Nostr, Monero, Zcash, Tor, Darknet markets, LBRY, Arweave, etc. The government can\'t tax what it doesn\'t know about, can\'t easily censor software that has no central server, can\'t imprison anons it can\'t find.\
\
5. Slow growth/monkeywrench the socialist state. Libertarianish politicians like Massie, Amash, and Rand can\'t easily pass pro-liberty legislation, but they can monkeywrench new legislation.\
\
6. Promote privately owned cities, such as Ciudad Morazán. Privately owned free private cities are more incentivize aligned with libertarian values than democratic states. Owning and operating free private cities can make libertarians rich; whereas running for office mostly just leads to loss, poverty, and corruption for sincere libertarians.\
\
7. Push for separation of school and state. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize the indoctrination of their children by the state / their ideological enemies. Teachers unions also form the backbone of the Democratic party, so this is an area where libertarians can make common cause with conservatives. (Though beware that conservatives will try to take power for themselves, so they can indoctrinate other people\'s children with their dumbass ideas instead.)\
\
8. Twin studies suggest that genetics has a strong influence on our political orientation ([https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2013/12/09/study-on-twins-suggests-our-political-beliefs-may-be-hard-wired/](https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2013/12/09/study-on-twins-suggests-our-political-beliefs-may-be-hard-wired/){target="_blank"}). Finance the research to discover the genes that lead to libertarian moral intuitions/intelligence ([https://righteousmind.com/largest-study-of-libertarian-psych/](https://righteousmind.com/largest-study-of-libertarian-psych/){target="_blank"}). Fund the research required to learn how to insert libertarians genes into their children. Promote freedom for reproductive technologies, such as IVF, surrogacy, cloning, genetic engineering, in vitro gametogenesis, artificial wombs, nanny bots, polygenic risk screening, etc. Have kids of your own, and encourage libertarians to become parents. Encourage authoritarians to sterilize themselves.\
\
9. Fight for freedom of movement between governments. Freedom of movement is required for the libertarian concentration strategy. Right of entry/exit also encourages intergovernmental competition, and discourages governments from instituting draconian policies, lest they lose their tax base/skilled professionals to more free countries.\
\
10. To reduce nativist opposition to freedom of movement, push to reverse/nullify laws that ban private discrimination. If nativists are free to ban criminals, blacks, Mexicans, atheists, Muslims, Jews, socialists, and trans/gays at the local level, they\'ll be much less motivated try to seize control of the government (and the borders) at the national level.\
\
11. Create/promote pro-liberty media. South Park, Babylon Bee, Doug Stanhope, Michael Malice, Joel Salatin, and Ryan Long all seem to be doing well financially by promoting a pro-liberty message / mocking authoritarians. Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman also got rich and significantly influenced the culture by pushing for liberty.\
\
12. Get rich in a non-ideological way by becoming an entrepreneur like John Mackey (Whole Foods), Patrick Schumacher (Zaha Hadid architects), Peter Thiel (Paypal, Facebook), Elon Musk (Paypal, SpaceX, Tesla, Starlink) and the Koch brothers (Koch Industries). Use the wealth you create to fund politicians/NGO\'s to promote liberty (Cato, Reason, Mises, AFP, YFL, SSDP, etc).\
\
13. Fund social policy bonds ([https://socialgoals.com/](https://socialgoals.com/){target="_blank"}). Instead of giving money directly to NGO\'s/governments to solve social problems, financially back bonds that only pay out if objective measures of success are met. NGO/government employees are incentivized to increase their personal wealth and power, not solve the problem their institution was created to solve. For example, if an NGO created to reduce homelessness were actually able to eliminate homelessness, all of the employees would be out of a job. As a result, homeless NGO employee incentives are to pretend to solve homelessness (or even make it worse) while hoovering up donor / government cash. Social policy bonds solve this problem by making payment contingent on actually solving the problem.\
\
14. Fund longevity research. Authoritarian regimes repeatedly arise because the people who lived through the last authoritarian regime age and die. Transfer of institutional knowledge from parents to children is terribly lossy, and humans have inborn biases that make them susceptible to authoritarian blandishments. If humans lived for thousands of years, the evils of socialism / fascism / democracy wouldn\'t fade from memory nearly so fast.
