Christine I think it's difficult to predict when the hens will come home to roost. Many have predicted collapse/hyperinflation since the 1970's, yet it hasn't happened yet. The economy could have collapsed during this administration, after all, yet the Democrats pushed hard to put Biden into office. I think the bigger issue is that Democrats don't have anyone who could perform better against Trump at the moment. Newsom is probably the best alternative, but I don't see many people enthusiastic about replicating the conditions in CA across the rest of the country. The best plausible outcome would probably be for Trump to run with Vivek, and then to die soon after winning office.
