A Hal Krylov The shooter's motives are unclear--he appears to have been registered as a Republican once, but he also made a (small) recent donation to ActBlue.   But he could have done those things for opposition research, or because he wanted updates on the candidates itinerary. It's possible that it's a Hinckley situation, and his motivation was simply attention, and assassinating a president is an easy way to get attention. Unfortunately, his social media accounts are locked down, so it may be a while before we get his true motives, if ever.
