# Adam Katz > Who has been advocating political violence? The last...

Adam Katz > Who has been advocating political violence? The last time progressives thought they might lose to Trump, many of them spent 9 months looting and burning cities across the US. They caused at least 19 deaths, and more than 2+ billion in insured losses, the costliest civil unrest since the civil war. “The arson, vandalism and looting… will result in at least $1 billion to $2 billion of paid insurance claims,” Axios reports. “[This will] eclips[e] the record set in Los Angeles in 1992 after the acquittal of the police officers who brutalized Rodney King.” https://www.axios.com/2020/09/16/riots-cost-property-damage Of course, the actual cost is much higher, since most businesses are uninsured or underinsured: https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/ If the Republicans had demonstrated in a similar fashion, it would've been treated as nine months of Krystallnacht. Instead regime Democrats in the media gave puffball interviews to looting apologists: https://web.archive.org/web/20200827191914/https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2020/08/27/906642178/one-authors-argument-in-defense-of-looting
