Timothy Allen MeWe is just as proprietary as FB, and has TOS that allow them to be just as unilaterally censorious FB. I don't see the point of moving to a service that could censor you just as much as FB can. Twitter is indeed much better under Elon. But it's still pretty bad. I've been shadow banned three times since Elon took over with no recourse. X downranks outside links (especially to Youtube, Mastodon, or Substack). X also blocks access to your feed unless the other person is logged in. IMO, Nostr and Substack are where I would direct people. Nostr is open source, and if you don't like one service provide you can both move yourself _and_ your social network to a new one. Substack is proprietary, but they don't try to control your mailing list.
