All of the following are free/open source. I recommend learning to use yt-dlp, avidemux, and vlc first, then go from there. yt-dlp - powerful command line tool for downloading videos (youtube, facebook, twitter, etc) avidemux - easy to use, fast editor for simple cutting, filtering, and encoding ffmpeg - powerful command line tool for video editing. Useful especially for converting from one file format to another. blender - very powerful video editor + 3d computer graphics. Used for commercial film production. High learning curve. vlc - video player capable of reading many different video file formats. Also has basic editing tools audacity - sound editing / recording handbrake - video ripper / file conversion free music archive - open licensed, original music by independent artists around the world fre:ac - audio converter and CD ripper gimp - 2d image editing
