> These people are already here illegally. Yes, but we're arguing whether it _should_ be illegal for someone born overseas to live and work in the US without US government permission. Imagine that I said "Smoking weed should be legal." and you said "But smoking weed is illegal!"  Yes, of course, it's illegal.  We're arguing about whether it should _continue_ to be illegal.
