The Constitution is just a piece of paper, not holy writ.
From the start, the Constitution has enabled seriously unethical behavior, such as the legal enslavement of other human beings.
While the slavery clauses have been corrected, government officials have subsequently claimed that the Constitution allows them to:
* extort as much of our income as they like
* imprison Japanese people indefinitely without trial
* torture prisoners
* sterilize women without their consent
* dictate the medicines we take
* control who we buy services from (from auto repair to zookeeping)
* surveil all of our financial transactions without a warrant
* surveil all of our communications without a warrant
* dictate where we can travel
* dictate the size, location, height, and occupancy of our homes
* commit crimes with immunity from prosecution
* ban private possession of gold
* ban the exchange of money without government permission
* seize our homes, cars, and property without conviction of a crime
* seize and freeze our bank accounts without conviction of a crime
* force taxpayers to subsidize / bailout the cronies of government officials (banks, auto firms, insurance companies, farmers, etc)
* enslave men in the military and force them to fight and die overseas
Clearly, the Consitution offers little protection for our freedoms, at best.
What matters is the culture.
If the people demand freedom, we'll have freedom.
If the people demand tyranny, we'll have tyranny.
So, if you demand some tyranny, and then try to hide behind the excuse, "But it's constitutional!" it doesn't matter to me!
It's still evil, stupid, tyrannical behavior! You're still contributing to the creation of a culture of tyranny!
