Ozer Tayiz No technology has zero risk. Coal plants produce / emit a variety of toxic substances (including radioactive material). Dams break. (A single dam failure killed orders of magnitude more people than all people ever killed by nuclear plants.) Solar panels require use of toxic materials (which, unlike nuclear material, never lose their toxicity). Natural gas explodes. Sane people don't expect a technology to be entirely risk free, as that is impossible; instead they ask "what are the tradeoffs, relative to alternatives?" By that metric, nuclear has a safety profile similar to wind and solar.
