Thom Gray > First of all, vouchers don’t cover transportation costs, so unless you’re also bussing kids to the private schools, kids with working parents can’t get there (same goes for district-jumping—this is even the case when rural kids want to go to city schools instead of county schools). So increase the amount of the voucher to cover travel costs. You've heard of single payer for healthcare, right? If we had Medicare for all, do you think people should be limited to doctors that happen to work in their school districts? That it should be illegal to buy the services of a doctor in Beverly Hills, if you were born in Compton? If not, why would you do the same for schooling? Think of vouchers as single payer for schooling.
