Elise Hecht Thanks for the response! I think your proposal will work about as well as it has in the past, aka not at all. Congress will stonewall and the civil service will stop working on popular services (like parks, passports, etc). There will be some backroom wheeling and dealing, and Trump will cave. The government will emerge from the process even bigger than before. "The most likely version of what's happening is that corrupt regime A is being replaced with corrupt regime B. In brief, the so-called "checks and balances" stopped working long ago. The choice we have is not between "trustworthy, benovolent bureaucracy" and "evil Trump dictatorship", but between "evil status quo dictatorship" and "evil Trump dictatorship". Will the Trump mafia be as pernicious as the Biden mafia? Probably. In the meantime though, I'm not going to shed a tear as the Trump mafia tries to massacre the Biden mafia.
