If there were a real insurrection it would be extremely bloody, and the death toll would likely be in the millions. The US Civil War cost more than 620 K lives (~2% of the ~32 million population), plus a much larger amount of permanent injuries. The current US military also spends more than the next ten militaries combined. A new Civil War with comparable losses would likely result in at least ~7 million deaths. While Democrats (and most Republicans) leaders typically support evil, authoritarian policies, the degree of oppression is not so great that most people would be willing to risk their lives or kill other people. Most gun owners regard taking a life as a very serious issue. They're enculturated to never point a gun at someone they don't intend to kill. As terrible as government leaders/staffers behave, conditions will likely have to get much worse before a shooting war would break out. However, I expect that we may see more progressive rioting, with more looting and burning of their neighbor's businesses. (Though hopefully it will be shut down earlier, as people have realized that cop violence was just an excuse, and BLM leaders are just a bunch of socialist grifters.) I expect that we'll see more leftwing assassination attempts on Trump, Musk, and Vance. Hopefully none of them succeed. If rightwingers believe that leftwingers will just kill them if they win office, then there is no point top trying to cooperate.
