Stuart Saxonberg I believe that Calibre's ability to strip DRM depends on this feature as well: "But modern Kindles use the newer KFX format (first rolled out in 2015) which introduced improved font rendering, better layout capabilities, and DRM that’s nearly impossible to circumvent." All DRM's can be defeated eventually, but it may take a while to crack the new DRM scheme.
