Naima Zakaria As of 2024, there were ~45 million registered Democrats in the US. If registered Democrats were a country, they'd have about the same population as Spain. If Spain, France, and the UK can operate socialist welfare programs, why couldn't the Democrats contract with each other to provide the same service? That way, both socialists and non-socialists could get what we want. Socialists get whatever welfare scheme they're willing to provide to each other. Non-socialists get to opt out.
