Lance Harting I don't doubt that aviation fuel is more energy dense.  However, the question is whether they can get useful range with current tech.  They say that existing battery technology gives them a range of 180 miles at 180 mph.  If they can go at airplane speeds anywhere a boat can dock, that seems like a useful range.
