Tim Anderson Yes, unions work for the good of union members, not the good of the public more broadly.  Indeed, they often harm the public more broadly, by restricting the supply of labor (via immigration suppression laws, threats of violence against "scabs"), mandating onerous licensure requirements and holding the public hostage (port / school / transit strikes).
