If you know that a child will almost certainly be killed following lengthy, brutal torture at the hands of serial killer, wouldn't it be ethical to kill the child quickly so that they will at least be spared the torture? Especially if it will also spare the mother from brutal torture? But if mother and child _aren't_ imprisoned by a sadistic serial killer, is it still ethical to help a mother execute her child?
