You really don't see how "freedom for me, but not for thee" is hypocritical?   If you were born in Venezuela, wouldn't you want to flee to the US?  Would you be happy that Venezuelans who had somehow escaped earlier were trying to make it harder for you to leave, advocating for government thugs to threaten violence against you if you try?
