Kevin Craig IMO, being a libertarian is not a binary trait, but a spectrum trait. You can be more or less libertarian. You can advocate for some libertarian policies, but not others. For example, I think Milton Friedman held mostly libertarian views, even though he invented income tax withholding. Hayek too, even though he advocated for a minimal welfare state. Hoppeans are often hypocrites whose hatred/fear of immigrants/gays/blacks cause them to advocate for authoritarian policies (such as immigration suppression laws). But I think if you look at all of their views, in total, they are very much toward the libertarian end of the spectrum.
