Thanks for writing this up!  I agree with your analysis.  Running for office is a waste of time for most libertarians (not sure if that's how you identify, but you seem libertarianish). The one exception is New Hampshire.  The libertarians there are numerous enough (due to the Free State Project) that they have a realistic chance of winning office (as Republicans).  And there enough of them already in power, that you would be strengthening an already existing coalition, rather than being an isolated singleton.
