Justin Yes, people like taxes that they think they can avoid and/or shift onto other people. Homeowners prefer sales taxes because they tend to be older, and have already bought all of their major goods (car, appliances, etc). Poor people like income taxes because the tax burden will fall not on them, but on rich "fat cats". You like income and sales taxes, because you think that you can successfully evade them. It seems to me that a "least bad" tax system should be fair. People shouldn't be able to evade their share of the burden
