Chad Elwartowski Yes, shifting taxes to other people is popular.   That doesn't mean it is wise for the economy as a whole.  Ideally, goods are made wherever it's least cost to make them.  Tariffs distort the price signal, so that people start growing rice in the California desert instead of tropical rice fields. This makes everyone poorer.
