Maybe you could rep yourself, but hire some experienced paralegals to work for you behind the scenes?  Maybe  a retired paralegal or one near retirement? They're likely to know the invisible landmines as well as any lawyer.     They can proofread your documents, and sanity check your strategy.  Maybe hire one of them to do most of the work, and then hire another one to crosscheck their work. If they trust that you'll keep their identity hidden, they won't fear professional retaliation.   Or if they're near retirement, they won't care anyway.
