# Izdaari Eristikon Milton Friedman was a great advocate for liberty,...

*September 14, 2025 — Comment Archer T. Ships replied to Carrie-Anne Hoke's comment.*

Izdaari Eristikon Milton Friedman was a great advocate for liberty, on the whole. But that doesn't mean that everything he advocated was pro-liberty. He helped develop the concept of pay-as-you-go income tax withholding, where employers deduct taxes directly from workers’ paychecks before they receive their wages. He also advocated for coercive wealth transfers. As a bisexual of Iranian descent, you would be deported back to Iran if many in the Mises Caucus had their way.
