Robin Gill I'm angry at both Democrats and Republicans for trying to censor people. Trump's FCC commissioner threatened to terminate ABC's broadcast license unless they disciplined Kimmel. I think that's a blatant violation of the First Amendment. However, Democrats behaved little better when they were in power. Biden administration officials sent lists of topics and people to social media firms to censor. I personally had several posts disappeared because they hit Facebook's censorship algorithms (and I self-censored quite a bit to prevent my account from being targeted further). I know several people who had their FB or Twitter accounts closed altogether. Some of them depended on their accounts for their livelihood. Government officials also pressured companies to cut off businesses that said things that the officials didn't like. For example, in February 2021, Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) and Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.) sent letters to cable providers (e.g., Comcast, AT&T) and streaming services (e.g., Roku, Amazon), questioning why they carried networks like Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network (OAN), which they accused of airing "misinformation" that "radicalizes individuals to commit seditious acts." The letters implied these providers should reconsider hosting such channels, effectively calling for their "firing" from distribution deals. I want both to stop trying to censor people.
