Agree. > However, I do not buy that you could start up a purely sexual relationship with someone else in response and not have it adversly affect the marriage. It depends on the sexual relationship.  A civilian lover?  Yes, it could be threatening, because such relationships also typically includes emotional bonding.  A sex worker?  Much less risk, since emotional bonding is unlikely. >  If you lost the use of your penis through a bad accident, would you feel ok with your wife getting her sexual needs met elsewhere? Yes.  If I become paralyzed, and could not longer provide sex for my wife, I'd want her to seek another husband/lover.   Why would I want her to be unhappy / unfulfilled?
