Kelly Diamond Economist Ed Glaeser estimates that half of the cost of housing in SF is just getting permission to build.  Most of the city is zoned exclusively for single family homes under two stories in height.  The city only has 1/3rd the density of Paris. In New Hampshire, _most_ cities have zoning ordinances that mandate one acre lot size minimums.  Some cities have _5 acre_ lot size minimums. There's plenty of room to grow, if only people were allowed to do so.
