Charles Macrae I dunno.  AI and robotics have made enormous strides recently.  Self-driving cars are a reality, though not yet widespread.  Star Trek-style communicators (that do much more than communicators did) are in every pocket.  All the world's literature, music, movies is available to everyone with an internet connection.  You can print your own gun (and many other things) with a $300 3d-printer.
