Madness. Designating Anthropic a supply chain risk means:

"The use of this designation is unprecedented for a domestic American company. Historically, the label has been reserved for foreign adversaries like Huawei or ZTE. Under 10 U.S. Code $§ 3252$ and the Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act, the designation carries severe consequences:

Contractor Prohibition: Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner doing business with the U.S. military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic.

Forced Divestment: Prime defense contractors—including Palantir, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin—must begin the process of removing Anthropic’s Claude models from their integrated systems (such as the Maven Smart System).

Six-Month Phase-Out: President Trump issued a directive for all federal agencies to cease the use of Anthropic technology, providing a 180-day window to transition to "more patriotic" AI services"

I hate Anthropic's censorship of their users, and their advocacy for rentseeking regulations. And it's fine if the Pentagon wants to end their contract because they refuse to do what the Pentagon wants.

But mandating that no government contractor can use Anthropic is just tin-pot dictator bullying.
