Nativists like to claim that 1) the US has recently suffered from mass immigration 2) that such immigration will inevitably lead to the growth of the welfare state.
However, is that claims supported by other country's experiences?
The graph below display the percentage of foreign born in the US, Singapore, Dubai, and Switzerland alongside the amount spent on 1) native born welfare 2) foreign born welfare.
As you can see, the US allows in the fewest immigrants, but spends far more on welfare than the other three. (And majority of that spending (86%) is on the native born population.)
