Facebook is secretly financing many of the lobbyists for the compulsory "identity verification" laws.
With the increasing ability of AI powered bots to create fake posts and fake clicks, FB is worried that advertisers will stop purchasing ads.
So FB wants the government to force everyone to identify themselves so that they can assure their advertisers that the ads are being seen by real people and not bots.
