As long as the credit card companies have a near monopoly on payments, they will be an irresistible pressure point for anti-sex work activists in government to lean on. (See Operation Chokepoint I/II.) Therefore, I encourage sex workers to help break the Visa/Mastercard/Amex monopoly by adopting cryptocurrency payments.

I’ve included a list of steps sex workers can take to use Monero for payments so that they’re no longer at the mercy of banks or credit card companies.

* Learn how to use anonymous, censorship resistant payment methods like @Monero and @zcash.

* Learn how to use @cakewallet. Give discounts to customers who pay with crypto.

* Set up @BtcpayServer on your website so you can accept crypto payments easily.

* Learn how to use decentralized fiat onramps like @bisq_network and @HavenoDEX.

* Learn how to spend your crypto on day to day expenses either directly (@shopinbit, @MonericaProject ) or with gift cards (@CoinCards, @bitrefill)

* Listen to privacy oriented podcasts like @sethforprivacy @MoneroTalk and @naomibrockwell.

* Track new bills in government. Learn about Operation Chokepoint I/II, FOSTA/SESTA, COPA, and the lobbying groups and politicians responsible for them. Unfortunately, hostility to sex work is a bipartisan issue: many Democratic politicians and feminist groups such as NOW are hostile to sex workers.

* Donate to pro-sex work lobbying organizations like @DecrimSex @DecrimNY (Note: I realize that there are many crypto projects of dubious merit out there, and you have little reason not to think I'm another scammer touting his wares.
