Erik Voorhees, in collaboration with a bunch of other open source AI projects/companies, has just launched an importnt new AI service called Venice.
[Note: I generated the attached image with Venice. The free version is censored (no sexy stuff), but apparently you can turn it off with the pro version.]

From the announcement thread:
"Today, we launch private, permissionless AI for the purpose of unfettered civilizational advancement.
@TryVenice
Venice is similar to @OpenAI, @Grok, @AnthropicAI's Claude, but w/o all the Orwellian stuff.
• Venice doesn’t spy on you
• Venice doesn’t censor your conversation
• Venice doesn’t inject bias, safetyism, or political propaganda
Venice gives you direct and unfiltered communication with machine intelligence.
The big centralized AI companies watch everything you do, control what is said, and share your info with themselves and 3rd parties (advertisers, hackers, governments).
Venice protects you by not endangering you in the first place; there is no-one in the middle to censor, record or control your conversation.
You can use @TryVenice for
• Text chat
• Image generation
• Code development
Venice leverages the leading open-source LLM models for generative AI. You’ll find them competitive with the big centralized models for many use cases.
Private
Venice does not “review” your conversations; everything is private. Prompts (and the AI’s responses) are end-to-end encrypted through a proxy server, and never persist on Venice servers. Your info is encrypted and stored only locally in your browser.
Uncensored
Venice doesn’t censor the underlying open-source models that power it (though each model differs in its own training and boundaries).
We treat you as an adult, capable of using information technology without paternalism.
Free speech = human flourishing
For Pro Accounts, Venice lets you modify the parameters and boundaries of the conversations through direct access to the System Prompt, something that none of the centralized providers offer.
You can use Venice even without an account, in less than five seconds, from anywhere on earth via desktop or mobile.
No download required or software to install. No restrictive licensing terms. Just easy and accessible AI for all humanity.
The GPU’s that power Venice are sourced from an array of providers, always tending toward those which are the most decentralized, private, and permissionless.
Venice is part of the open-source Morpheus network for permissionless AI.
We're building on the shoulders of giants: ht/t to...@huggingface, @NousResearch, @OpenRouterAI, @ollama, @Meta, @MistralAI, @StabilityAI, @MorpheusAIs, @hyperbolic_labs, @akashnet_
and many others for kicking off an open-source AI renaissance.
Venice is our attempt to make permissionless, open-source AI so easy, fun, fast, and powerful that there’s little reason to go back to the centralized, permissioned alternatives.
Reduce friction = increase adoption
Venice consists of myself, our COO @TeanaTaylor
formely of @HSBC, @Circle, and @Binance, our potent anon CTO, and a small, supremely talented team.
Why is a team of crypto folks building an AI app? Really you should read the full blog.
But succinctly, as we believe in the importance of decentralizing money, so too do we believe in the importance of decentralizing mind.
Machine intelligence is too powerful and important to be monopolized by any company, organization, or government. The regulatory pressure on centralized companies will get continually more heavy-handed.
Crypto people understand this. The AI people are starting to.
While Venice is not a crypto product, nor confined to America, it is architected upon the crypto ethos, and quite radically American: imbued with unapologetic sovereignty for the individual.
But regardless of the ideology behind it, Venice is for everyone.
You can @TryVenice for free, no account needed, and let us know how we can make it even better.
ad intellectum infinitum"
