An audit will not save you: libertarians only make up 15% of the population

An audit may be a good idea, but it will change nothing for the prospects of the Libertarian Party in California.

LP candidates have almost always lost, in all states, for the last 50 years. No LP candidate has won a Congressional seat, governorship, or mayoral race in any city over 100 K. Even when libertarianish candidates win, they accomplish little, as we're vastly outnumbered by conservatives and progressives. (Can you name a single piece of legislation Ron Paul successfully sponsored?)

Surveys suggest that people with consistent libertarian tendencies make up 7-15% of the population. By contrast, conservatives make up 40% of the population, and progressives make up 45% of the population..

As a result, we will almost always lose "first past the post" popularity contests.
