As long as a single monolithic government tries to rule over 330 million people, many segments of the population will be unhappy no matter the outcome of the election.
IMO, if US citizens want to be governed by laws and leaders who share their values more often, we need to:
set up a mechanism for peaceful secession
allow the US states to break apart into many autonomous nations
allow people to self-assort into the polity of their choice.
