How to install Zashi zcash wallet

Install Zashi wallet (mobile)

Zashi is the official mobile wallet developed by the Electric Coin Company (the creators of Zcash). It is available for both iOS and Android.

Download the Zashi installer. Always use the official links to avoid phishing versions of the wallet.

• iOS: App Store Link (Requires iOS 16.0 or later)

• Android: Google Play Store Link

• Android (APK): If you do not use Google Play, you can download the latest APK directly from the Zashi GitHub Releases page.

Configure Zashi for privacy

If you are using Zashi for high-privacy needs:

• Tor Support: Check the app settings for a “Tor” or “Privacy” toggle. Enabling this routes your wallet’s connection to the Zcash lightclient server through the Tor network, hiding your IP address from the server provider.

• Auto-Shielding: If you receive funds to a transparent address, Zashi will often prompt you to “shield” them. Always accept this to move your coins into the private pool.

Create a new wallet

1. Open Zashi app and select Create New Wallet .

2. Back Up Your Seed Phrase. The app will display a 24-word recovery phrase. Write these words down on physical paper and store them in a secure location.

   If you lose this phrase or your phone is damaged, your funds cannot be recovered.

   Do not take a screenshot or store it in your notes app.

3. Verify your seed phrase. You may be asked to confirm several words from your phrase to ensure you recorded it correctly.

Sync the Blockchain.

1. Zashi must “scan” the Zcash blockchain to find your private (shielded) transactions.

2. As the blockchain is synced, you will see a progress bar that displays synchronization percentage.

   You do not need to wait for 100% to receive funds, but your balance may not appear accurately until the sync is finished.

   The “Spend Before Sync” feature allows you to send funds you have recently received even if the entire historical scan isn’t complete.

1. Tap the Receive button.

2. You will see a Unified Address (UA). These addresses start with u1. Unified Addresses are “future-proof.” They automatically bundle shielded (Orchard/Sapling) and transparent (t-address) capabilities into one string. When you give this address to a sender, Zashi will automatically guide the funds into the most secure shielded pool available.

3. To receive Zcash, enter the unified address in the “To” field of the wallet / exchange you’re sending from.
