I thought that given their profession, attorneys would be better at proper argumentation in casual settings than an average person (avoiding strawman arguments, ad hominem, etc). But at least in my--admittedly anecdotal--experience that doesn't seem to be the case.
EDIT: I should point out that they don't argue any worse than average. Just not better, which is what I would've expected.
