I agree with Bates point overall--I think libertarians _should_ reach out much more to Muslims, socialists, and other groups that libertarians have historically neglected.
However, many Muslims hold beliefs at least as backwards as the people he criticizes on the right (on women's rights, gay rights, religious liberty, etc).
Yet, whereas he treats Muslims with kindness and respect, he spews vitriol toward the libertarianish conservatives (who are much more libertarian overall than the average Muslim).
It seems to me that if we can reach out to conservative Muslims with kindness and respect, we can continue to reach out to those on the right in a similar fashion.
