A lot of people are making the leap to Parler, Flote, MeWe and Gab. Unfortunately, most of those apps/sites are also a) closed source b) have policies that allow them to censor / ban accounts for any reason, similar to Facebook.

For example:

In order for me to advocate for a new platform, it has to meet the following criteria:

1. Open source
2. Decentralized (P2P > Federated > centralized)
3. Available on desktop and cell phones.
4. Transparent, user controlled curation
5. User controlled data
6. Incentive aligned business model (business makes money when users are happy)
7. Decent UI / UX
8. Plugin system

So far, the following sites seem the most promising to me:

Minds
Patchwork
Hubzilla
Matrix
Dreamwidth
Diaspora
