A civilian lover? Yes, it could be threatening, because such relationships also typically includes emotional bonding. A sex worker? If I become paralyzed, and could not longer provide sex for my wife, I'd want her to seek another husband/lover. Why would I want her to be unhappy / unfulfilled?
